CURRICULUM
B.E Course in Civil Engineering involves design and construction of roads, bridges, railways etc. and the erection of large buildings. The course curriculum includes the study of all the basic engineering science and is designed to introduce to the student a variety of problems encountered by civil engineers such as: structures, foundation, constructions, hydraulics and environmental engineering, works management and cost, transportation engineering, irrigation engineering etc. The core courses include strength of materials, construction technology, design of steel structures, construction planning & scheduling, environmental engineering, irrigation engineering, design of RC and brick masonry structures, basics of dynamics and seismic design, estimation and quantity surveying, pre-stressed concrete structures.
Apart from this a number of practical laboratory classes and a survey camp.
VISION
To produce competent civil engineers who can contribute effectively to the advancement of civil engineering causes and take care of the needs of the community.
INFRASTRUCTURE
The Department has facilities for conducting survey practical labs, Strength of Materials Lab, Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory, Computer Aided Building Drawing lab and soil mechanics lab and drawing halls.
SCOPE
Employment opportunities exist in government organisations such as PWD, Highways, Railways, Airways, Water resources etc. and in construction companies like L&T, ESSAR, TCE, TECHNIP, GMR,CCCL etc. Right now constructions industry is booming as there is growth in infrastructure requirement throughout the country. Scope of civil engineers lies with many developing countries in Middle East, Africa, Asia where infrastructure development is picking up and where Indian engineers are in great demand.
ELECTIVES
Some of the Electives in the curriculum include, irrigation engineering,
structural analysis, environmental engineering, hydrology, remote sensing techniques, traffic engineering and management,
housing planning, ground water engineering, industrial waste management, wind energy, computer aided design of structures,
smart structures and smart materials, and finite element techniques, total quality management, electronic surveying, architecture,
fundamentals of nano-science, intellectual property rights (IPR), Indian constitutional and society, pavement engineering,
