In
order to give a basic knowledge about Mechanical
Engineering to students of all other branches,
two subjects namely “Engineering Graphics”
and “Basic Civil & Mechanical
Engineering” are included in the first-year
syllabus. Engineering Graphics gives knowledge
about the concepts involved in making an
Engineering Drawing and also develops the
skill of imagining an object in 3D. Basic
Civil & Mechanical Engineering gives
an insight in to Surveying, Building materials,
Foundation and Superstructure, Power production,
Pumps and Turbines, IC Engines, Refrigeration
and Air Conditioning systems.
In addition to the above theory subjects,
students of all branches have to do practical
exercises under Civil, Mechanical, Electrical
and Electronics disciplines. All students
do on hand exercises in Plumbing, Carpentry,
Welding, Machining operations using Lathe
and Sheet Metal Work. They also study about
Pumps, Air Conditioners, Molding, Smithy,
Fitting, Gas Welding, Residential wiring,
Fluorescent lamp wiring, Staircase wiring,
Electrical Measuring Equipment, Electronic
Components, Logical Gates, Clock Signal
and Rectifiers.
Thus every student gains an overall exposure
to the basic knowledge in every field through
the theory subject, laboratory exercises
and demonstrations. |
