Electronics and Communication Engineering

Laboratory

ANALOG AND DIGITAL LAB

In this laboratory the students design and test various circuits using theorems on circuit theory and principles of electrical engineering. The students are made to test the working of various active devices, verifying the characteristics of the devices.
The lab is used to study various ICs and use them to design circuits to perform Analog experiments and study Digital IC experiments regarding various applications in mathematical operations, filters, oscillators, data converters & Operational. Students are made to analyse functions of waveform generators. Further the students also use this lab to perform experiments on different types of combinational and sequential circuits such as adders, subtractor, code converters, comparators, multiplexers, flip-flops, counters, shift registers and sequence detectors etc.

CIRCUITS AND SIMULATION LAB

The lab is utilized to study various ICs and use them to design circuits for analyzing Analog experiments and its various applications in filters, oscillators, and also to design function and waveform generators. The students also are made to test the working of various electronic circuits with the help of PSPICE simulation software.

LINEAR INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB

Linear Integrated Circuits & Simulation lab is very important for designing the characteristics of operational amplifiers ,555 Timer IC and to simulate the applications of OP-AMP's. It is also used for designing the Electronic circuits. Students of various branches design and test their circuits as part of their curriculum. Guidance is provided to the students by a team of expert faculty and lab technicians to handle the designing part. The labs are kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in designing /testing the circuits in their leisure hours. Students are grouped into small teams and guided to do their mini projects in this laboratory.

MICROPROCESSOR & MICROCONTROLLER LAB & EMBEDDED SYSTEM DESIGN LAB

The Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory aims in inculcating the knowledge of programming skills by executing various programs like arithmetic operations, code conversions, searching and sorting algorithms studied in the Microprocessor and Microcontroller course. The lab is also used by the students to interface the microprocessor and microcontroller to various peripheral devices to analyze its working parameters and to perform A/D and D/A conversions, Displays, Digital clock. An introduction to ARM processor and programming using ARM processor are also implemented by the students.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS LAB

Communication systems laboratory focuses on training the students in both analog and digital transmission/reception of signal. The students here start in the analog area by constructing the circuits of amplitude modulation, frequency modulation and phase modulation. A mini AM transmitter is constructed by them in the MW frequency of electromagnetic spectrum and they do a live transmission with minimum power output. The signals are then received in a pocket AM radio. Learning the concepts, with small applications give them plenty of joy and real motivation towards their studies. Digital trainer kits are available for performing digital modulations.

OPTICAL &  MICROWAVE LAB

The optical communication laboratory is setup to complement the topics studied in the optical communication theory course. The lab is equipped with fiber optic trainer kits and modules to enable the study of components of an optical fiber communication. The students perform experiments to study the characteristics of optical sources (LED & LD) and optical detectors (LD & APD) and optical fibers. Fault detection in a fiber link is studied using the OTDR module. A FSO module enables study of Transmission of optical signal in free space. The lab is equipped with connecterization and splicing kits. In Microwave Lab the students are exposed to the microwave active devices like klystron, gunn diode and passive devices isolator ,circulator, slide screw tunner, magic tee, directional coupler, horn antenna, attenuator, terminations . The students perform all the experiments as prescribed by the university regulations.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING & VLSI  LAB

The Digital Signal Processing and VLSI applications are becoming more prevalent in everyday use. The field of DSP/VLSI was developed due to the flexibility offered by the use of digital computers in implementing signal processing algorithms and systems. There is a constant need for designing systems with lower power, higher speed and lower area. The DSP/VLSI lab is equipped with hordes of personal computers. The students enrich their knowledge by using the software tools like Matlab, modelsim, Xilinx HDL to simulate experiments on signal processing and designing digital circuits.
